A New Campus Means Zero Room for Error

How Mid-State delivered a complete HVAC system for a new 20,000 sq. ft. school with every component engineered for long-term performance.

Christ Church Academy

Overview

Christ Church Academy expanded with a new, single-story 20,000 sq. ft. campus that included classrooms, an auditorium, and shared learning areas. The project required a full HVAC buildout, including equipment installation, system layout, and duct distribution. With multiple system types in play, including rooftop condensers, hung air handlers, package units, and dedicated outside air equipment, success depended on intentional planning and careful coordination throughout construction.

Challenge

This project involved delivering a complete HVAC system within a new learning environment. The system needed to provide reliable comfort across spaces with different cooling and airflow demands. Key Considerations Included: • Consistent comfort in classrooms, auditorium, and common areas • Efficient zoning and distribution • Clean, well-integrated ductwork • Future-ready performance Because all core spaces relied on mechanical cooling, every component—from air handling to outside air delivery—needed to be installed properly the first time. With no existing building tolerances to work around, long-term functionality depended on accurate planning, correct mechanical layouts, and high-quality installation during construction.

Our Solution

Mid-State Mechanical Contractors furnished and installed the full HVAC scope across the campus, coordinating with the construction team to ensure proper equipment placement, airflow routing, and system integration. The completed system included: • 12 split systems (air handlers + condensers) • 3 package systems • 2 outside air units Key execution steps: • Rooftop condenser placement to maximize accessibility and distribution efficiency • Hung air handler installation to serve interior spaces while preserving usable square footage • Fully integrated ductwork sized and routed to classroom, auditorium, and common-area loads Installation sequencing supported building progress, ensuring all equipment, duct, and mechanical pathways were installed cleanly and ready for commissioning.

Results

• Complete HVAC system installed for a new 20,000 sq. ft. campus • Classrooms, auditorium, and common spaces fully served • Smart mix of split, package, and outside air systems for reliable performance • Equipment and ductwork positioned for accessible service & long-term operation Every component was planned and installed to support consistent comfort, maintainability, and system longevity. When you are building for the future, details matter.
