Commercial Ductwork Contractor in Vero Beach

Most mechanical contractors on the Treasure Coast order their ductwork from someone else. Mid-State fabricates ours, in our own shop in Vero Beach. That single fact changes how our projects run. When a field measurement comes back different from the drawing — which on a retrofit is most of the time — we cut a new transition that afternoon instead of adding a week to the schedule and a change order to the invoice.

We build to SMACNA construction standards, in the gauges and seam types the application calls for: rectangular supply and return trunks, round and spiral duct, offsets and radius elbows, tees and taps, custom transitions between mismatched equipment, return air and mixing plenums, curb adapters for rooftop changeouts, and double-wall assemblies where sound or condensation is a concern. If a piece does not exist off a shelf — and on a forty-year-old building, it usually does not — we make it.

Florida makes ductwork detailing consequential in ways that drier climates do not. Air that is 55 degrees moving through an unconditioned attic at 90% relative humidity will condense on any surface where the insulation or the vapor barrier is compromised, and the result is dripping duct, stained ceiling tile, and eventually microbial growth complaints. We insulate and seal for that reality, pay attention to hanger spacing and support so joints do not open over time, and specify materials that hold up to salt air on coastal projects near the barrier island and the Intracoastal.

Leakage is the other quiet expense. A system losing a meaningful share of its conditioned air into a plenum or a chase forces the equipment to run longer, never satisfies the far end of the building, and drives up the bill every month. On retrofits we seal and, where the scope calls for it, test what we install, and we are direct about existing duct that is not worth patching. Correcting undersized trunks and starved branches often does more for comfort complaints than replacing the equipment does.

We take on ductwork as part of a full mechanical installation and as standalone sheet metal work for tenant improvements, kitchen hood and exhaust connections, warehouse ventilation, duct rerouting around new walls and structure, and repairs after storm or water damage. We coordinate with general contractors and other trades on new construction, and we handle the inspection process with the Indian River County building department as a matter of routine.
