Big School. Bigger System. Zero Downtime.
How Mid-State installed 3+ miles of chilled water piping across an active high school campus—without disrupting operations.
Overview
Vero Beach High School required a complete overhaul of its chilled water system, including two new chillers, cooling towers, and over three miles of underground piping. The system needed to serve the main school, gym, auditorium, and freshman wing—all while keeping operations live.
Challenge
Working on a large campus while school was in session meant complex phasing, coordination with district facilities, and absolute minimal disruption. The size and scope of the chilled water plant also required long-distance piping through active areas.
Our Solution
Mid-State handled the full scope—from design coordination and measurement to chilled water pipe installation and final tie-ins. Systems were phased strategically, with temporary cooling provided as needed. All work was self-performed and coordinated with the school district to avoid disruption.
Results
• 3+ miles of underground chilled water piping installed • Two chillers and cooling towers brought online • System integrated into district-wide BAS for remote monitoring • Campus remained fully operational throughout
